口語式短文:加拿大伯公
Canadian grand uncle :
My Canadian grand uncle is my maternal grandpa's older brother. He and grand aunt have lived in Canada for almost 40 years.
Grand uncle graduated from National Taiwan University majoring in agricultural economics. He had taken classes taught by ex-president Lee Teng Hui.
After he graduated from NTU, grand uncle himself alone went to Canada to study for and finally got his PhD degree.
At first he joined the faculty of Manitoba University. Only then did grand aunt take then-preschool uncle David to Canada to reunite with him.
Grand uncle later on switched jobs to join the federal department of agriculture and agri-food. He worked there until he retired.
After retiring he came back to Taiwan and became a professor and chairman of agribusiness management at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. He worked there until he retired at 65 and went back to Canada.
When mom was conceiving me, grand uncle and aunt still lived in Pingtung. They often prepared sumptuous meals for mom to nourish herself.
When I was at 5, I had been to grand uncle and aunt's house at Ottawa, Canada, and stayed there for two weeks. Shirley and John had joined me, too.
Now they come back to Taiwan every other one or two years. There's always a boisterous family get-together when they come back here.
