口語式短文:爺爺的喪禮
My paternal grandfather's funeral :
My paternal grandfather passed away in May of last year at the age of 86.
Arranged by my paternal grandmother and little Aunt, grandfather was baptized as a Catholic Christian before his dying breath.
His funeral was held at church and co-hosted by three Fathers.
During the funeral, we the junior generations knelt down three times and kowtowed nine times to show our deep respect to grandfather's remains.
Groups of mourners each raised incense or bowed to show condolence and respect.
The whole funeral Mass proceeded with the congregations singing holy hymns. It was solemn and dignified.
The final process of the funeral was to take a last look at the remains of grandfather. Everybody had a stick of white rose in hand, and took turns to put it on the top of grandfather's chest.
After the funeral, the remains of grandfather were cremated at the cremation center. My older cousins took care of picking the bones and sealing them in a cinerary casket.
The casket was buried in a Catholic cemetery at Sanshia, Taipei. Our family members often went there to commemorate our beloved grandfather.
