口語式短文:英文基本功
Constant effort in English :
“What classes do you have today?” Dad asked me this morning. “PE, social studies, mandarin and reading,” I replied.
On days there is a PE class, I am always very happy to go to school. But I was in low mood on the way to school this morning.
It was because Mom had asked me some English expressions last night and I couldn't answer them correctly. She scolded me that I am always fooling around when taking English classes.
Frankly speaking, I am a passive learner of English. I am always inattentive when Dad's teaching me English.
Dad was busy yesterday so I didn't have an English class. Originally I was happy that I earned one free day!
But I never thought that Mom would unexpectedly ask me some questions about English expressions, and I was stymied by the questions at once.
Mom and Dad often say that English is a foundation skill that needs constant effort.
And that Taiwan is getting more and more internationalized. Many jobs need people with good command of English.
When Mom and Dad are saying these things, I always nod to express understanding and agreement. But every time when Dad's English class is about to begin, I start to pout.
